It was plainly a by-product of ethical monotheism The biographical elements seem to dominate in the final chapters as was the case in “Discoverers”but a larger portion of the book was just what I expected – full of useful information, presented in clear, fluid, easily-digestible language. First there was the heroic way of prophets and philosophers—men like Moses or Job or Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, as well as those in the communities of the early church universities and the Protestant Reformation—seeking salvation or truth from the god above or the reason within each of us.
The author Boorstin was such a prolific writer that while being grilled by the Senate for confirmation as Librarian of Congress, he was ssekers if he would write during business hours. Throughout history, from the time of Socrates to our own modern age, the human race has sought answers to fundamental questions of life: Thomas More and Machiavelli pursued truth through social change.

Dec 03, Pages Buy. I thought boorstin’s book The Discoverers” was very good, I learned a lot about inventions and how people viewed the world at different times through history. What makes this book unique and an uniquely excellent read from among the many intellectual histories out there is the perspective from which Boorstin approaches his subjects and the aspect of his various seelers which he focuses on.
